AAU Boys Basketball
Part of the AAU basketball arm, the AAU boys basketball specifically focuses on young men in developing their skills and dedication to basketball. The boys in AAU basketball were the first ones to avail of the basketball program of AAU way back in 1897. It was in this year the first AAU basketball tournament for boys were played. The dedication to the sport continues until today.
AAU Boys Basketball ranges from seven years old until 20 years of age. With the exception of the seven under group, all of the levels compete until the AAU Boys Basketball national tournament. Here they will compete against other AAU Boys Basketball tournaments champions. Qualifying in the national tournament is not exactly a walk in the park.
In order for the team to qualify for the basketball tournament, the team has to win a District Championship. Champions from the Disney’s Spring Classic, Disney’s Easter Classic and AAU Super Regional Championships champions are automatically qualified for the national tournament. In 2007, the AAU national championships will be held in Reno, Nevada. There is also an AAU Junior Olympic Games that will happen in Knoxville, Tennessee.
More often than not, AAU Boys Basketball is available in your area. There are numerous volunteers and teams being put up almost everyday to cater to the needs of young players. Sometimes there are persons who opt to create a team, knowing they can support them in all aspects in basketball. The AAU basketball tournaments for boys have given us a glimpse of the raw talents of the kids. The AAU Boys Basketball camps are localized training camps, organized by the local individuals of the community. These individuals are experienced in the field of basketball.
