Basketball Conference

Each college basketball team has to prove themselves worthy for the March Madness by winning their own basketball conference. There are at least 30 to 31 college basketball conferences on all three divisions. Each basketball conference will produce a champion that will play in the round of 64 along with other worthy teams selected by the NCAA committee. The selections of non winning teams are based on their tournament performance.

NCAA college basketball conferences are usually regional. Each team is given a USA basketball standing, which was based on their recent performances on their respective tournaments. Aside from their standings, the other top three teams in each basketball conference will also be considered by the NCAA selection committee. The results of the previous conference, USA basketball standing will also be based there.

The following are some of the regional basketball tournaments; the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament or the ACC basketball conference, Southern Conference basketball tournament, Mountain West Conference basketball tournament, Big Sky conference basketball tournament and Sun Belt conference basketball tournament. A sample of women’s tournament is the Commonwealth Coast conference women's basketball. These conferences boast of great and small conferences like Missouri Valley basketball conference history. The conference used to be part of what is now the Big Eight conference in the Midwestern part of the USA.

A special note on the Southern Conference men’s basketball tournament; it should not be mistaken for the SEC basketball conference. The Southern Conference basketball geographical scope is closer to the north compare to the Southeastern basketball conference. The southern conference features teams from Chattanooga, West Carolina, Charleston, Greensboro and other college teams near to those cities. The SEC basketball conference features teams from Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida.

The tournaments are single elimination and rankings are determined by way of their win-loss records and the top seeded teams with great tournament results will have a chance to play at the National NCAA basketball conference. Also considered are their winnings and losses in their home court and the difficulty of their own schedule compared to other teams in their own basketball conference. The annual NCAA tournament is fought out among 64 teams in single match elimination matches with the winners going through to meet higher seeded teams. The culmination of the basketball conference is the championship game on a Monday night for men’s conference followed by the women’s conference on a Tuesday night.
