Georgetown basketball, otherwise called the Georgetown Hoyas basketball team, is the team that plays out of Georgetown University in Washington DC. Georgetown University basketball is part of the Big East conference which includes teams from seventeen universities that are found in the eastern part of the US. Georgetown Hoyas basketball team carries the team colors of blue and gray, and plays out of the Verizon Center which can seat up to twenty thousand fans.

In the 2007 NCAA tournament, the Georgetown basketball team encountered the top seeded team from Ohio State, the Buckeyes, in the National Semifinals. The March 31 match between Georgetown basketball and Ohio State ended in a 67-60 loss for the Georgetown Hoyas.
