UConn Basketball

The UCONN basketball team is known as the Connecticut Huskies or UCONN huskies basketball team. It is an athletic team of basketball players playing for University of Connecticut that is an associate member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association First Division and the Big East Conference. One of the major sports that University of Connecticut has is the basketball sport, which includes both genders for men and women. The game arena of the UCONN womens basketball and UCONN mens basketball teams’ playoffs are usually campus-played events conducted in Gampel Pavilion or at the Hartford Civic Center.

The University of Connective had achieved its first national title in the NCAA tournament of 1994-1995 through its UCONN women's basketball team. The University of Connecticut women's basketball team was only the second team in women’s basketball history that remained undefeated in the First Division and had the chance of routing the team to the National Championship. Moreover, the UCONN huskies women basketball team became the first team in the history of NCAA to remain unbeaten, winning 35 games in one season. In the year 1990, the UCONN women basketball team only ranked second in the First Division under the supervision of the Auriemma. The 2000 UCONN women's basketball enjoyed one of the greatest basketball seasons because the team won the National Championships, Big East Regular Season Championships, and Big East Tournament Championships. UCONN basketball star Diana Taurasi was one of the notable players who joined the only woman’s basketball program whereas every game was televised.

The early days of the UCONN men’s basketball team at the Big East Conference were struggles most likely at the Yankee Conference Championships level, not to mention the traditional powers of Syracuse and Georgetown. Because of these, UCONN basketball coach Jim Calhoun was hired before the playoff season of 1986-1987 began. The 1994 University of Connecticut men's basketball roster of players was very impressive because of the fact that most of them are role models and scholars. Thus, UCONN became “The College Hoops Capital of America”.
