Basketball Cheers
Players and fans agree that basketball team cheers are an important part of every game. Some girls look at cheerleaders as role models, and may hope to become one of them in the future.
Learning cheers for basketball is not difficult, especially since the majority of them incorporate rhythm and rhyming of words. Basketball cheers are catchy and they are an easy way to get the crowd involved. Someone who is creating a basketball cheer should keep in mind how the spectators will react. High energy basketball floor cheers and chants motivate the team to do great things. Without basketball cheers, the game would be boring, because it is the only way the crowd gets to participate in what is going on.
Parents and other spectators sometimes protest what they feel are unnecessary "nasty basketball cheers". They feel that this type of cheers done by young girls and older girls are not acceptable because they inspire unsportsmanlike behavior. Cheer instructors and cheerleaders argue that they do not understand the basketball cheer vocabulary, and are over-reacting to the situation. They were originally created to be viewed as funny basketball cheers, but now the question is where to draw the line between "funny" and "nasty". Parents feel that their little girls are seeing these adult style cheers, and they are trying to mimic what they see. However, there are those that would argue that these basketball cheers are at most cute basketball cheers which are quite harmless. No one complains that rowdy basketball cheers and chants could promote violence among the excited crowd.
Although not all fans agree on the style of cheers, there is a general agreement that a cheer for basketball will get them more involved in the game. Sitting in the stands as a spectator is important because it shows the team that someone appreciates what they are doing. Junior basketball cheers are also present during youth games, as a way to keep in line with the tradition of the game. But parents feel that younger children who play basketball should not focus too much on winning yet. On the other hand, high school basketball cheers get the crowd and the players motivated and involved. The basketball cheers for Rams are meant to entertain the crowd who paid to see the game, but they are also responsible for getting the crowd involved. All the basketball cheers, chants and antics are supposed to incorporate the crowd, so that they can get the team spirit up.
