The Detroit Pistons is the favorite to win the Central Division this season. Even though the Pistons had lost Ben Wallace, they have acquired an important player in the form of Chris Webber. The team of Chicago Bulls is so far the most improved team of the Central Division because of the leadership of Ben Wallace. The Cavaliers have a well-balanced mix of youth and experience. The Indiana Pacers are now a team on the decline. However, Pacers are in the process of rebuilding. If the team is healthy again, the Pacers can be one of the top teams in the division.

Of all the teams in the Central Division, the weakest team should be the Milwaukee Bucks. This team is led by Terry Scotts, who is a tough and strong leader for the young Bucks, but inexperience and lack of confidence are the factors that hold the team back from greater achievements.
